WQHH Holds 7th Annual Backpack Giveway

For the 7th year in a row, MacDonald Broadcasting’s Power 96.5 WQHH-FM (Lansing) held its annual Backpack Giveway on August 20.  This year’s event, held at the Don Johnson Fieldhouse in Lansing took all precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The station gave away free school supplies for local grade school kids on a first come, first served basis, but unlike years prior, it was a drive-through socially-distanced event where listeners could pull up and receive their supplies without getting out of their vehicle.

The station partnered with Communities In Schools of Michigan to give away the backpacks filled with school supplies for students K-12th grade.  Each year the station hands out over 1,000 backpacks with school supplies and hosts fun games and activities including a bounce house, face painting and other activities.

The annual event was presented this year with the additional assistance of Meijer, Case Credit Union, Lansing Community College, Sparrow Hospital and Duckett Brothers Distributing.
