WSYM Giving Away More Than 1,600 Books with ‘If You Give A Child A Book’ Campaign

Scripps Media’s WSYM-TV (Lansing) has announced that its employees, along with the Scripps Howard Foundation, have made it their mission to get high-quality books to children in our community through the “If You Give A Child A Book” campaign.

This past summer, the station did a call-out for donations from employees and the community. With those collected funds and with a matching contribution from the Scripps Howard Foundation, WSYM is able to give 1,683 books to children in the community this year.

“I am so proud of the team at Fox 47, and our viewers, for opening up their hearts and their wallets for the children in our community,” said Gary Baxter, WSYM Vice President and General Manager. “Fox 47 team members, along with our peers at each of the E.W. Scripps TV stations around the country, continue to put tens of thousands of new, age-appropriate books into the hands of kids throughout Mid-Michigan and the United States.”
