WWMT Upgrades Signal with New Antenna, Transmitter

Sinclair Broadcast Group’s WWMT-TV (Kalamazoo) has lit up a new transmitter and antenna at its Gun Lake transmitter site in Barry County. Starting late afternoon on August 6, over-the-air viewers of the station and its digital subchannel (CW7) may have noticed an improved signal coming to their TV sets.

The changes, which were years in the making, are designed to improve the quality of the station’s traditional broadcast signal.  Chief Engineer George Markle recommended that viewers re-scan their channel lineup to ensure you are receiving the optimal signal.

So far, the feedback the station has been receiving has been “very solid.”  “We are pleased to deliver an improved signal to many of our viewers to ensure everyone has access to the wide array of programming on both of our channels,” said WWMT-TV General Manager Fred Corbus.

The changes only impact those viewing WWMT and the CW7 over the air with an antenna. Cable and streaming viewers are not impacted by the change.  The station transmits on RF 8, virtual channel 3.
