Whiting Appointed Faculty Advisor for MSU Telecasters

September 9, 2022

Jon Whiting

Michigan State University School of Journalism (J-School) Professor Jon Whiting will be taking on the lead role of faculty advisor for MSU Telecasters. Whiting will be the third advisor for MSU Telecasters since 1982.

MSU Telecasters has served as a student organization that fosters a collaborative environment for creatives within the MSU community. They educate, connect, and provide hands-on training for developing student filmmakers by creating diverse, high quality digital content through six different shows under their umbrella, including The ShoW, Sideshow, Giraffe House, Beaumont Bulletin, Turn, and The Pop! (formerly titled VideoNow).

MSU Telecasters is looking for students of all years and majors interested in exploring acting, directing, writing, and other positions of leadership within film and video projects.

"I am excited to work with this diverse group of students following the great leadership MSU Telecasters has had under Zach (Hall, the outgoing advisor) for the past five years," Whiting said. "We will continue to grow, adapt and create meaningful content, and I look forward to what the future of this group holds as its membership and alumni provide support for these talented and passionate students."
