After 40 years in radio, and the past 17 years with Cumulus Media's WQKL-FM (Ann Arbor), "Morning Mayor" Martin Bandyke has announced that he will be retiring on December 22nd.  Bandyke made the announcement via MLive, writing, "As much as I love being on the air and believe me I’m going to miss being on the air five days a week, just having the chance to take the foot off the gas a little bit and address the stacks and stacks of books and CDs and albums at home will be great.”

Bandyke started his career working as a volunteer in 1983 at Detroit's WDET-FM, co-hosting the late-night "Dimension" program.  He started fulltime at the station when appointed Assistant Music Director in 1990 and then started hosting the midday shift in 1991.  WDET then appointed him Music Director in 1995. Bandyke joined WQKL in 2006.

After he leaves the daily morning drive shift, Bandyke will continue to host his Sunday afternoon “Fine Tuning” show for the WQKL.
