WADL Sale Terminated

May 24, 2024

Various press reports over the last few days indicate that Mission Broadcasting has terminated their agreement to purchase WADL-TV (Detroit) from Adell Broadcasting.  This comes weeks after the FCC approved the sale of the station to Mission, but imposed a number of conditions that made the deal complicated for both seller and buyer. Nexstar Media Group, which helped finance the deal and would have run the station under a series of management agreements.

The fate of the CW Network affiliation in the Detroit market remains up in the air.   The network, primarily owned by Nexstar, presently is seen on Scripps' WMYD-TV, however that affiliation deal will end September 1.
