Imlay City-based group owner Smile FM has filed an application to assign the CP for WWRW-FM (Big Rapids) to Mentor Partners, Inc. in a cash/swap deal. Mentor, headed by Jeff Scarpelli will pay cash as well as assign the license and assets of translator W256CC (Big Rapids) to Smile FM in exchange for the FM station construction permit.

Mentor currently owns WBRN-AM, WYBR-FM and WWBR-FM, plus three FM translators in Big Rapids, including W256CC.  Smile FM was the successful bidder for what is now WWRW in FCC’s Auction 109, held back in 2021.  At that time the allocation was assigned to Lake Isabella; but Smile FM moved the channel through a minor change to Big Rapids Township in early 2022.

Once construction is completed on WWRW, Mentor will program the station under a programming agreement until the license transfers are completed.  The WWRW construction permit expires September 30, 2025.
