WLUC & WILX to Telecast NMU vs. MSU Hockey Game October 24
October 17, 2025
According to a press release from Midco Sports, the game will also air on other Gray Media stations, including WILX-TV in Lansing.
“The history and connection between these two programs tells a wonderful story,” said WLUC general manager Rick Rhoades. “TV6 is happy to help share that story to the U.P. along with broadcasting an entertaining hockey game.”
The series will mark just the second visit of the Spartans to Marquette since 2012 to play at the Rick Comley Rink. As the head coach for Michigan State from 2002 to 2011, Comley led MSU to the 2007 NCAA championship. He now serves in his second stint as athletic director for Northern Michigan, where he also coached the Wildcats to the 1991 NCAA championship.
“We are very excited to have MSU hockey coming to NMU,” said Comley, who coached MSU bench boss Adam Nightingale for two seasons at Michigan State. “This series is a reunion of sorts for Adam and follows the exciting Superior Dome Basketball game with MSU. I have fond memories at both schools and love rekindling this rivalry.”
The broadcast team of Mark Evans and Dave Ellis will call the game to open their 12th season in the booth together.
The telecast will also include an intermission feature on the 1997-98 Marquette Electricians Midget AAA team, which included both MSU head coach Adam Nightingale and NMU assistant coach Andy Contois on its roster.
