October 24, 2025

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) celebrated the 2025 NAB Marconi Radio Awards Tuesday night (10/21) from the Edison Ballroom in New York. Among the big winners this year was WJR-AM (Detroit) afternoon personality Mitch Albom, who won the Large Market Personality of the Year honor.  Albom, unable to attend the ceremonies had his award accepted by WJR Program Director Ann Thomas.  Thomas read a statement from Albom, “I am both stunned and honored to be considered for this award, much less win it, and only previous unbreakable obligations from my writing life keep me from being here with you.”

Two stations owned by Audacy, WOMC-FM and WXYT-FM (both Detroit) won station of the year honors.  WOMC was presented with Classic Hits Station of the Year honors while sister station WXYT-FM received a Marconi as Sports Station of the Year.

Established in 1989 and named for inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards honor radio stations and on-air personalities demonstrating outstanding achievement and service to their communities.
