WJLB-FM Keeps Detroit Warm with Coats for Kids

November 21, 2025

This past Sunday (11/16), IHeartMedia's WJLB-FM (Detroit) held its annual "Coats for Kids" event.  The event, held this year at Eastern Market in Detroit, is dedicated to keeping children across Metro Detroit warm throughout the cold winter. Coats for Kids was hosted by WJLB on-air personalities Bigg Dawg Blast and Chris Carsyn, hosting the event on-site and welcoming families from across the metro area.  The station had more than 1000 coats to giveaway over a two hour period.

The free community giveaway invited parents and guardians to bring their children to receive a brand-new winter coat while supplies last. To ensure coats are given directly to the children who need them most, children had to be present at the event to receive a coat. “Detroit is family and family looks out for each other,” said Cheron Sanders, PD for 97.9 WJLB. “Coats for Kids is our way of spreading warmth and love across the city. 97.9 WJLB is proud to stand with our community and keep Detroit covered this winter!”
