Mid-West Family Partners with Visit Southwest Michigan to Launch New Radio Station

Mid-West Family Broadcasting has announced a new format for one of its stations in Southwest Michigan beginning Monday, January 26.  The company is partnering with Visit Southwest Michigan to launch “Visit Southwest Michigan Radio” on its WQYQ-AM/W291DK (St. Joseph).

The station is described as “designed to serve both local residents and visitors by pairing feel-good music with meaningful local content that highlights the people, places, and experiences of Southwest Michigan.” Programming is described as to feature “Curated Soundscapes” of vibrant selections of feel-good, seasonal music, “Local Spotlights” with features on the attractions and people that make the area unique, and “Community Connection” with informative segments highlighting local happenings and must-see destinations.

The new station, designed to serve local residents and visitors, will offer a mix of music and local content highlighting attractions, events and community stories from across the region.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Visit Southwest Michigan for this specially designed radio station unlike any other you’ll find on the radio dial,” Mid-West General Manager Dave Doetsch says. “Since 1958 our core mission has been to serve our community, and this new radio station will not only serve our community, but it’ll also serve those who make the choice to come and visit. And best of all, when they miss us, they can turn on the station via the stream and let the memories inspire them to plan their return.”

Visit Southwest Michigan Executive Director Marcy Simpson adds, “We are proud to introduce a new radio station dedicated to serving our local community and visitors to our area. The station will offer an engaging blend of seasonal, upbeat music and will feature local attractions, informative segments on what to do and see, and community happenings designed to inform, connect, and celebrate the area.”
