WTCM-AM (Traverse City) morning personalities Ron Jolly and Colleen Wares McClelland, hosts of the Ron Jolly Show have announced that they are retiring from the station after their last show on April 10.
The Traverse Ticker reports that Jolly made a brief on-air announcement last Friday (1/16), stating that it was “not an easy thing to leave” but that “all the circumstances add up to that. We will make the most of it. The hardest part is leaving. We can’t see you, you can’t see us, but we are connected."
“We really thought it through, and we decided we would kind of hold hands and jump at the same time,” McLelland concluded.
Ron Jolly has covered northern Michigan on radio and TV for over 30 years. He joined WTCM in 1994. He’s authored the Northern Michigan Almanac (U of M Press 2005) and co-authored Michigan’s Upper Peninsula Almanac (U of M Press 2010). Colleen Wares McLelland has worked at the Midwestern Broadcasting for over 45 years, joining the company in 1981. She originally co-hosted mornings on the WTCM-FM, but moved over to the AM side to join Jolly.
