One $1,000 Scholarship Awarded

Cherryl "Cher" Lynn Allen was a long-time employee of WBKB-TV (Alpena). Over the course of 35 years, Allen worked in many positions at WBKB-TV, retiring as the general manager.

Cher was an active member of the MAB, having served on several committees and was a regular attendee at conferences.

A scholarship given in her name was established by her longtime friend and station owner Stephen Marks. This scholarship will be awarded to an individual whose desire it is to enter into broadcast management.

Thank you to all students who applied for an MAB Foundation scholarship. We are currently reviewing all applications and are inspired by the talent and passion shown by Michigan’s future broadcasters and media professionals.

Scholarship recipients will be notified in February and recognized during the Michigan Student Broadcast Awards Luncheon on March 26 at the Crowne Plaza Lansing.
