Bob Flynn Retires After 46 Years at WCSR

After more than 40 years on the air, Hillsdale radio icon will hang up his microphone at the end of the week.  Bob Flynn is retiring from McKibbin Media’s WCSR-AM/FM. Bob’s radio career began as a part-timer during the summer of 1978 with WCSR.

Terri Ray Celebrates 40 years with WKLT

Terri Ray, Program Director and midday talent at Midwestern Broadcasting Company’s WKLT-FM (Kalkaska/Traverse City) is celebrating 40 years at the station.  Named one of the best program directors in the nation by Radio Ink magazine, Ray started at the station (known locally as ‘KLT The Rock Station) in 1984.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.

Broadcasting has a silent, but threatening issue occurring across the industry.  It is creating a deepening canyon within staff throughout this wonderful business.  We are blessed with an incredible number of veterans, but they are struggling to grow new employees into productive, long term broadcasters.  This divide is a problem and it is important that leadership begins to take action.
