The Block Comes to Kalamazoo & Battle Creek

Townsquare Media has announced the debut of a new radio station in the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek market.  WBXX-FM (Marshall/Battle Creek) has been teamed up with translator W273AR (Paw Paw/Kalamazoo) to become “WBXX 102.5/104.9 The Block, Southwest Michigan’s #1 for R&B.”

Michigan Radio Announces New “All Things Considered” Host

After conducting an extensive search, Michigan Radio is pleased to announce that Rebecca Kruth has been named as the station’s new All Things Considered host. Rebecca replaces Christina Shockley, who left Michigan Radio in June to help coach public radio hosts and reporters across the country.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.

Broadcasting has a silent, but threatening issue occurring across the industry.  It is creating a deepening canyon within staff throughout this wonderful business.  We are blessed with an incredible number of veterans, but they are struggling to grow new employees into productive, long term broadcasters.  This divide is a problem and it is important that leadership begins to take action.
