Mike Murri and George Blaha named 2025 Michiganians of the Year by The Detroit News

The Detroit News has announced their 2025 Michiganians of the Year honors. Every year, the publication selects the “most impressive fellow citizens” to receive the distinction based on nominations by the readers and staff. Among the 10 picked this year are Mike Murri, of WMYD/WXYZ-TV and broadcaster George Blaha, the voice of the Detroit Pistons.

WOLV/WCCY Live at Vet Fest in Houghton

June 13, 2025

This past Wednesday (6/11) Queen Bee’s Knees WOLV-FM/WCCY-AM (Houghton) helped bring “Vet Fest 2025” to Houghton County.  Now in its third year, Vet Fest has become one of the best veterans service events in the state for connecting people. This year’s event will bring organizations from across the western Upper Peninsula to work with veterans and educate the community about various military benefits.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
