California Company to Acquire Stations in Hancock, Ironwood and Ontonagon

December 2, 2022

Pending FCC approval, a newly-formed broadcast entity will come to Michigan.  On November 28, applications were filed with the FCC to transfer stations in Hancock and Ironwood owned by Wisconsin-based J&J Broadcasting as well as a stand-alone FM in Ontonagon owned by SNRN Broadcasting to BTC USA Holdings Management.

The J&J deal includes WKMJ-FM/WMPL-AM, plus a translator in Hancock and WIMI-FM/WJMS-AM plus a translator in Ironwood.  The second transaction is for WUPY-FM in Ontonagon, currently owned by SNRN.  The total amount for the sale of all five stations is $1.3 million.

BTC USA Holdings Management is headed by Cliff Dumas and is based in Bakersfield, CA.  Dumas is morning personality at KUZZ-FM in Bakersfield and had hosted mornings at KRST-FM in Albuquerque as well as KSON-FM in San Diego. The company had previously announced purchases of stations in Texarkana AR/TX and Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka AK.
