The CW Moves Down the TV Dial in Detroit

September 8, 2023

With little advanced public fanfare, Adell Broadcasting's WADL-TV (Detroit) has picked up the programming of the CW Network as of September 1.  That was the date CBS previously announced that it would drop the CW affiliations from its owned and operated stations nationwide, including Detroit's WKBD-TV.  This followed the sale of control of the network to Nexstar Broadcasting.  WKBD-TV is now an independent station airing a lineup of syndicated programming.

On May 17, 2023, Adell announced it would sell WADL to Mission Broadcasting in a deal valued at $75 million.  Mission owns 29 stations nationwide with Nexstar managing the stations through shared services and local marketing agreements.

WADL continues its MyNetworkTV affiliation with programming from that network, now airing later at night.
