local 3 logoAccording to an application filed April 10, Nexstar Media Group has sold WJMN-TV (Escanaba-Marquette) to Quincy, IL based broadcaster Sullivan's Landing, LLC.  Sullivan is headed by Ralph Oakley.

Oakley is former head of Quincy Media, Inc., a family-owned media company that owned newspaper and broadcast properties nationwide. In 2021, Quincy sold its portfolio of broadcast stations to Gray Television and Allen Media Group in 2021 as well as newspaper holdings to Phillips Media Group.

In April 2022, Oakley, all but retired, was honored with a Broadcasters Foundation of America Leadership Award at the NAB Show.

Concurrent with the WJMN purchase, the buyer has entered into both a JSA/SSA with Queen Bee’s Knees LLC, a division of Morgan Murphy Media.  In September, 2023, Queen Bee's/Morgan Murphy acquired The Marks Group's Michigan broadcasting properties, including WBKB-TV (Alpena), WBUP-TV (Ishpeming), WKBP-TV (Calumet) along with radio stations in Houghton and Iron River.

Morgan Murphy, based in Madison, WI, owns numerous television and radio stations in Kansas, Michigan, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

WJMN-TV originally took the air in 1969 as a satellite of WFRV-TV (Green Bay, WI).  Nexstar acquired the station, along with WFRV in 2011 from Liberty Media. WJMN is currently an affiliate of MyNetworkTV and Antenna TV.
