On May 16-18, Townsquare Media's WKFR-FM (Kalamazoo) hosted their annual Roof Sit event, that raises awareness and funding to treat and prevent child abuse and neglect in Southwest Michigan. This year the event raised more than $83,000 for the Community Healing Center's Children’s Programs.

Radio personalities from WKFR broadcast live from the Roof Sit site, located at the corner of S. Westnedge Avenue and Milham Avenue in Portage.  WWMT-TV's Jessica Harthorn and Keith Thompson served as emcees for the event.

For 26 years, Kalamazoo Community Healing Centers has been partnering with WKFR to raise money and awareness for the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect in Southwest Michigan.

The Children’s Advocacy Center offers compassionate, specialized care for children who are victims of sexual or physical abuse. We provide a variety of specialized programs, individual counseling for child victims and their non-offending family members, family therapy, and support groups for parents. Our Early Intervention Program offers intensive in-home support for families in Kalamazoo with young children 0-6 years old. For families with children 7–17 our intensive home and community-based services work to enhance or restore social and psychological functioning of individuals and families who are struggling.

Roof Sit receives support from our community in many ways! Volunteers raise money by gathering friends, family, or coworkers and forming a Tips for Kids team or signing up for on-site opportunities. Sponsors, donors, committee members, and volunteers, all help make this event a success.
