Debbie Kenyon & Julie Koehn Named to ’75 Most Influential Women in Radio’ List by Radio Ink Magazine

RadioInk Magazine has announced its 2024 list of the 75 most influential women in radio for and two Michigan broadcasters have made the list. Audacy/Detroit SVP and Market Manager Debbie Kenyon and Lenawee Broadcasting President and GM/Southeast Michigan Media Owner/President/GM Julie Koehn received the honors from the magazine.

Since 1999, Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio list honors women throughout our industry for their leadership, passion, and hard work. The 75 honorees offer their perspectives on the radio industry and the importance of membership. The feature also includes updates and reflections from several women who were a part of that very first list.

Debbie Kenyon

The May print issue of Radio Ink recognizes and celebrates their contributions with their 25th annual Most Influential Women in Radio issue.

Debbie Kenyon has overseen the Audacy Detroit cluster since 1999.  Some highlights of her career achievements include the following awards and honors:

  • Radio Ink’s Best Managers in Radio (3 years in a row)
  • National Finalist, Radio Ink’s Radio Wayne Awards (5 years in a row)
  • Outstanding Alumni Award – Haworth College of Business
  • Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio
  • Crain’s Detroit Business Most Influential Women
  • Crain’s Detroit Business 40 Under 40
  • Michigan Association of Broadcasters Board of Director Chair (2017-2018); served on the board 2013-2019.
  • Recipient of the MAB Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.

Julie Koehn

Julie Koehn has been President and GM of Lenawee Broadcasting (Since 1990). She has been the President/GM and Owner of Southeast Michigan Media since 2020. Koehn has 39 years in the broadcasting industry. Koehn's accomplishments are many:

  • District 13 representative (MI) to the National Association of Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2009 to 2015 and 2023-Present.
  • Board of Directors of the International Broadcasters Idea Bank, President (2018-Present).
  • Board of Directors of the NAB Leadership Foundation (2015-Present).
  • Board of Directors of the RAB (2023-Present) Executive Committee (2023-Present).
  • Member of the RAB Sales Advisory Committee (2016-Present) (Co-Chair, 2016-2020).
  • Chair of the NAB Small and Medium Market Radio Committee (2018-Present).
  • Michigan Association of Broadcasters Board of Directors Chair (2005-2006).  She has served on the MAB Board from 2002-2007, 2009-2015 and 2023-Present.
  • MAB Foundation (2007-2014) having served as chairman of the foundation in 2012-2013.
  • Inducted into the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2012.
  • Received the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

In addition to her personal accomplishments, her stations in Adrian have received numerous awards and recognition on the local, state and national level.
