April 4, 2025

Steve Barkway
A long-time broadcaster in the Lenawee County community retired March 31. Steve Barkway, with over 52 years in broadcasting under his belt, wore many hats at the Lenawee Broadcasting Company and WLEN-FM. He was the station's morning show host, sports director, sports producer, salesman and sales manager.
Barkway retired from morning show duties a few years back, but held a part-time role as Sports Director/Producer, which allowed him to spend more time with his kids and grandchildren.
He was a 1976 graduate of Adrian College with a BA in Communications and Media Studies. Prior to joining Lenawee Broadcasting, he also worked at WTRX-AM (Flint) and WKHM-AM (Jackson).
“Thank you Steve for all the years and all the award winning programming you have produced over that time. We will miss you but know you’ll be enjoying family time, which is so very important!” said Lenawee Broadcasting Company Owner/General Manager Julie Koehn on Barkway’s retirement.
