Tina Martin Retires from Midwestern Broadcasting After 23+ Years

May 2, 2025

Midwestern Broadcasting Company (Traverse City) has shared the news that Traffic Director Tina Martin is retiring from the company after 23+ years of service.  Martin most recently was at the company's Alpena stations (WZTK-FM/WATZ-FM/WRGZ-FM).

Martin spent her entire adulthood in Radio Traffic, starting in high school with Traverse City’s WLDR-FM (Don Wiitala, owner).  This led to the start of a successful career with WLDR-FM that lasted decades, ending when owner Wiitala sold his operation.

“In a small town, broadcasters seem to know the “key” players working for the competition.  Back in the 90’s, I would hear about Tina and how well-liked she was by her fellow employees and advertisers, as well as the competing salespeople she would assist.  We felt very lucky to have been able to bring her over to our team,.” General Manager Chris Warren told the MAB.  “Absolute trust is the greatest quality you can wish for in a Traffic Director, and Tina epitomizes that.  Sales, Programming and Management have been comforted for decades knowing Tina will keep things running smoothly, even during catastrophic times!”

Martin looks forward to spending more time with family, especially her grandson and granddaughter who live just down the street.  Her last day on the job is today, May 2, 2025.
