Brooks Blanton

WZZM-TV (Grand Rapids) News Director Brooks Blanton has been named Vice-President/News Director at Fox Station's WJBK-TV (Detroit).  Effective October 20, he will oversee all the editorial, business and administration functions for the station and its streaming offerings, reporting directly to Paul McGonagle, WJBK SVP/GM.

McGonagle said: “We are experiencing a resurgence at Fox 2, expanding our news, weather and sports reach on multiple platforms. Brooks is the guy who can lead these efforts to dominance.”

Blanton joined WZZM-TV in 2022. Prior to that, he held the same position at WCCB-TV (Charlotte, N.C.), and previously served over 7 years as News Director at WXMI-TV (Grand Rapids). He has also served as a national producer for the Atlanta bureau of Fox News Channel. Earlier, he served as senior producer of special projects for KNXV-TV (Phoenix, AZ). Blanton began his career in broadcasting as an investigative reporter for KTVK Phoenix.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Blanton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism.
