Karina Prieto Moves to WOOD-TV as Anchor/Reporter

WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) has announced that Karina Prieto has joined the station as an anchor/reporter. Prieto recently spent two years as the weekend morning anchor and weekday multimedia journalist at sister-Nexstar station WLNS-TV in Lansing.
Prieto was born and raised in Orange County, California, where she lived until moving to Mid-Michigan to earn her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Michigan State University. At MSU, she majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in sports Journalism.
In her time as a Spartan, Prieto received several awards for her work, including the 2025 Student Emmy in the Talent (News) category, as well as the Student Emmy for Newscast as an anchor and executive producer of MSU’s collegiate broadcast.
She has also been recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Broadcast Education Association, and ranked nationally in 2025 as one of five finalists in the prestigious Hearst National Television Championships.
