After 18 years spent as WXMI-TV/FOX 17 (Grand Rapids) morning traffic anchor and reporter for Walker, Northview and Comstock Park, Robb Westaby put down the microphone for the last time on April 18, 2026, retiring after more than 50 years in broadcasting.
A California native, Westaby started his career in radio. He was a morning personality at WSRW-FM/STAR 105.7 and later took on the roll of Program Director for WOOD radio before joiing WXMI-TV in 2008. He also worked on-air at WOWO-AM in Ft. Wayne.
WXMI reporter Josh Berry asked Westaby, "Is there one thing over the years here at FOX 17 that you've looked back and have enjoyed the most?" Westaby's response: "Really the people. This may sound like a stereotype, but the reason that I kept going at this business was the people."
To honor his career, Walker Mayor Gary Carey, Jr. visited the FOX 17 newsroom on Wednesday of last week to present Robb with a city proclamation, making Saturday, April 18 Robb Westaby Day in the City of Walker.
