WLUC-TV6 & Fox UP (Marquette) has announced Thursday that Dave Ellis will be taking over as TV6 News Director on June 15.

Ellis has more than three decades of experience in broadcast and multimedia production, with deep familiarity with the Upper Peninsula and WLUC. Most recently, he has served as an Executive Producer at WLUC-TV, coordinating coverage for live college sports and creating content for both broadcast and digital platforms.

“I’m excited to have Dave join our team and help elevate our news department to the next level as our industry continues to evolve and expand,” said Rick Rhoades, Vice President/General Manager of WLUC. “Dave brings many years of broadcast experience from all over the country working primarily in Michigan, but has experience at the national level with NBC Sports and the Big Ten Network just to name a few.”

Ellis began his career at WLUC as a sports reporter and later worked as a sports anchor/reporter at WLNS-TV in Lansing. He holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunication from Michigan State University.

Prior to returning to WLUC, Ellis held senior multimedia production roles at Michigan State University, leading multi-platform video storytelling and live event production, while mentoring and training student journalists. He also served as media relations director for Lansing United Soccer Club and spent nearly 15 years producing and hosting athletics programming for Michigan State.

“It’s the biggest honor of my career to be named to this role,” Ellis said. “I grew up as a TV6 viewer and my career would not have been the same without my time at WLUC. I’m excited to bring the UP together with our great news team, and we promise to continue our coverage all across the peninsula and beyond.”

As News Director, Ellis will oversee the station’s news operations, guide editorial direction, and foster innovative approaches to engage viewers across TV6 & FOX UP platforms. His leadership will build on WLUC’s legacy as Upper Michigan’s trusted source for news, sports, weather and community stories.
