Nexstar Media Foundation Announces Honorees for “30 Days of Giving” Initiatives in Mid and West Michigan

June 26, 2026

Nexstar Media Group announced this week the recipients of its "30 Days of Giving" initiative.  On Monday (6/22) Nexstar Media's Charitable Foundation said it is making a $5,000 contribution to both the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County.  The organizations were nominated by employees at WOOD/WOTV/WXSP-TV, the Nexstar television stations serving Grand Rapids.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County serves suspected victims of child sexual abuse. The Center minimizes trauma and provides a safe space for children to access comprehensive services including therapy, court education and courthouse/courtroom tours, and obtain non-invasive medical exams. Programs are offered at no cost to families.

It partners with 10 law enforcement agencies, Children’s Protective Services, the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office, and the YWCA to deliver coordinated care.

The Center also advances prevention through its professional development and training opportunities, and school-based programming, equipping children and adults with the knowledge to recognize, report, and help prevent abuse.

“We are touched by the mission and work of the Children’s Assessment Center Kent County Chapter,” said Marci Daniels, Vice President and General Manager of WOOD/WOTV/WXSP-TV in Grand Rapids, MI. “They provide trauma-informed support for children who are victims of sexual assault, while seeking justice on their behalf.  We are honored to be able to help support this valuable mission.”

On Thursday (6/25), Nexstar announced that WLNS-TV (Lansing) employees nominated Building Twentyone to receive a $5000 grant.  Building Twentyone empowers teens to discover passion and purpose by providing a safe and engaging space. The youth-driven center serves middle and high school students from across the Greater Lansing area and provides mentorship, leadership opportunities, hands-on experiences, and positive peer relationships. Its programs are designed to help students gain confidence, build character, develop real-world skills, and grow a community connection before the age of 21.

“We are proud to support Building Twentyone,” said Marci Daniels, who also serves as Vice President and General Manager of WLNS.  “We want to see teens thrive and be confident so they can step into adulthood prepared and with purpose.”

“30 Days of Giving” is an employee‑driven initiative created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nexstar’s founding in June 1996. Locally-led committees reviewed submissions from Nexstar’s 13,000 employees and selected charitable and nonprofit organizations to nominate for grants. More than 100 organizations were nominated, and the Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors chose 60 to receive $5,000 each. Every day during the month of June, the Foundation will award two $5,000 grants; by the end of the month the Foundation will have committed $300,000 to “30 Days of Giving.”

The Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation’s mission is to contribute to and work with public charities and non-profit organizations to improve the communities in which Nexstar Media and its subsidiaries do business.
