WGHN-FM (Grand Haven) morning personality Mary Ellen Murphy celebrated Global Beatles Day with a special four-hour Beatles tribute during Good Morning Grand Haven on Thursday, June 25. The special broadcast, "Mary Ellen Celebrates Global Beatles Day," aired from 6:00 - 10:00 a.m. and featured music from The Beatles, listener memories, stories, and conversation celebrating one of the most influential bands in music history.

A longtime Beatles fan, Murphy spotlighted many of the songs that helped define a generation while sharing the band's enduring impact on popular culture.

Global Beatles Day is observed annually on June 25 in recognition of The Beatles' historic 1967 performance of All You Need Is Love, broadcast live to an estimated 400 million people worldwide during the groundbreaking Our World television special.

"Few artists have had the impact of The Beatles," said Michael Toth, General Manager of WGHN. "Their music continues to bring people together across generations, and Mary Ellen's passion for the band makes her the perfect person to host this special celebration."

The Global Beatles Day celebration is part of WGHN's 70th Anniversary year. The station first signed on the air July 16, 1956, and continues to serve the Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg, and Lakeshore communities with local news, information, sports, and entertainment programming.
