Townsquare Media's WCRZ-FM (Cars 108) Flint held their 11th Annual Roof Sit for Whaley Children's Center August 29-31 and raised $78,015!  This topped last year's total of $60,000.  The three-day 52-hour event originated on the rooftop of McDonald's on Saginaw Street in Grand Blanc.

On the roof for the event were Cars 108’s Jeremy Fenech and Mindy Williams from Whaley Children’s Center.  The were finally able to climb down from the roof, leave their makeshift living spaces behind and head home on the last day of the event at 10 a.m.

The goal of the Roof Sit is to raise awareness and financial support for the center, helping kids in Genesee County who need it most. The WCC is an independent, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, nearly 100 years old, which works to provide every child with a comfortable and living home. They provide residential childcare for children 5 to 17 years old who have suffered chronic abuse and neglect, provide counseling, aftercare services, and more. This fundraiser is an extension of their mission.

Fenech, on his personal Facebook page, wrote: "Raising over $70,000 for the Whaley Children's Center means the absolute world to me. Even more than taking my first shower for the first time since Tuesday… But just barely. Thank you all for your contributions and support. These kids are worth it and appreciate it… Every single Penny.  Again, thank everybody who contributed, or supported us in anyway from logistics behind-the-scenes… Everything. We could not have done this without you."
