FNX Showcases Native American and Indigenous Storytelling

August 8, 2025

WCMU Public Media (Mt. Pleasant) made an important addition to their programming lineup. The station just launched FNX – First Nations Experience, a dedicated channel showcasing Native American and Indigenous storytelling, culture, and perspectives.

FNX is the first and only national broadcast television network in the United States exclusively devoted to Native American and World Indigenous content, and WCMU is thrilled to bring its powerful programming to all of their viewers across Michigan. There are clear synergies between FNX’s mission and the values and rich heritage of Michigan’s tribal nations.

There will be four transmitters across Michigan that will be broadcasting FNX:

·        WCML 6.5 – Alpena
·        WCMV 27.5 – Cadillac
·        WCMW 21.5 – Manistee
·        WCMU-TV 14.5 – Mt. Pleasant

Antenna users must rescan in order to receive FNX. This means you'll need to grab your remote and rescan your channels. Check out wcmu.org/rescan for more information.

Created as a shared vision between Founding Partners, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and the San Bernadino Community College District, FNX is owned by and originates from the studios of KVCR-PBS San Bernadino. FNX began broadcast in the Los Angeles area in 2011 and went national on November 1, 2014 via the Public Television System, making the network available to PBS affiliates. WCMU is proud to offer this channel to our viewers and supporters.
