Noordyk to Donate WQXO to K-Love, Inc.

September 19, 2025

Inside Radio reports that Todd Noordyk’s Great Lakes Radio has filed an application with the FCC to donate oldies WQXO-AM (Munising) to K-Love, Inc. (formerly known as Educational Media Foundation). The deal includes the Munising, MI-licensed translator W249DR at 97.7. The publication notes that the stations will allow K-Love to fill in the gaps in its Marquette market coverage where the contemporary Christian “K-Love” format airs on WSHN (89.3) and WCRR (88.9).

Noordyk's Great Lakes Radio acquired WQXO in 1999 along with WHCH-FM (now WRUP-FM) (Palmer) and WFXD-FM (Marquette).  In 2019, WRUP and WFXD, along with sister station WKQS-FM (Marquette) were sold to mediaBrew Communications.

WQXO operates fulltime on 1400 kHz with 1000 watts.  W249DR rebroadcasts WQXO on 97.7 with 250 watts.
