Radio First to Consolidate Operations in Port Huron
March 6, 2026

The 1450/105.5 signals currently air an active rock format.
As a result of this consolidation, the current 1380, 1590 and 92.7 signals will be shut down.
During The Paul Miller Show on Monday morning, Radio First General Manager Scott Shigley explained, saying, "Every radio station has towers, and every radio station has a license. We have a lot of programming across our stations, and some of it just really isn’t focused,” said Shigley. “And one of the things that we’re going to do is we’re going to make Paul available, not only to an AM audience, but we’re going to make him available on the FM dial too."
“We are going to take the WPHM call letters, and we are going to move it down the dial to 1450. The reason for that is because 1450 is also attached to 105.5 FM. So now we’re going to be able to offer The Paul Miller Show to an FM audience as well as AM, and we feel like that is a really, really important thing for us to be able to do.”
The WPHM 1380 signal signed on December 6, 1947 with the call letters WTTH, which stood for the owner, The Times Herald, Port Huron's only daily newspaper. Following an ownership change in 1970, the WPHM call letters were adopted. The station, with 5kw full-time, has a 7-tower array south of Port Huron
WHLX 1590, licensed to nearby Marine City, signed on December 10, 1951 under the call letters WSDC. Over the years, call letters were WDOG, WSMA, WIFN and WHYT. The WHLX calls were adopted in 2000. The station, with 1kw-day and 100w-night has a 2-tower array just northwest of Marine City.
The new WPHM 1450/105.5 will also feature Detroit Tigers baseball and Detroit Lions football, along with Sunday morning church programming.
Following the signal shuffle, the cluster will have three stations: WSAQ-FM, WBTI-FM and WPHM-AM/W288BT. These changes will go into effect on Monday, April 6.
