Detroit PBS Receives $100,000 Grant from Masco Corporation
March 6, 2026

“Detroit PBS is proud to continue our partnership with Masco, whose investment strengthens our ability to serve Southeast Michigan with trusted journalism and meaningful programming,” said President & CEO Rich Homberg. “This support helps us deepen our coverage of critical civic issues while ensuring audiences have access to content that informs, inspires, and connects our community.”
The grant reinforces Detroit PBS’ role as essential civic infrastructure in Southeast Michigan, supporting programming that reflects the region’s diversity, economic momentum, and evolving needs. Funding will be allocated across three key initiatives:
Local Journalism and Community Affairs
The grant provides critical support for Detroit PBS’ journalism initiatives, including American Black Journal and One Detroit. These programs examine issues shaping the region — from economic development and education to arts and culture, housing, workforce trends, and community leadership — through in-depth reporting and community dialogue.
Mackinac Policy Conference Coverage
Detroit PBS will continue its comprehensive, gavel-to-gavel coverage of the Mackinac Policy Conference, livestreaming keynote speeches and panel discussions featuring Michigan’s top business, government, and civic leaders. By making the conference broadly accessible across broadcast and digital platforms, Detroit PBS ensures statewide transparency and engagement around conversations that shape Michigan’s future.
Home Improvement Programming – This Old House
Funding also supports the local presentation of This Old House, PBS’ trusted home improvement series that connects homeowners with practical expertise, craftsmanship, and design inspiration — content that aligns with Masco’s longstanding commitment to innovation in the home.
“Masco is proud to support Detroit PBS and its commitment to delivering trusted journalism and high-quality programming to communities across Southeast Michigan,” said Sue Sabo, Director of Communications and Corporate Giving at Masco. “Public media plays a vital role in informing and strengthening the communities we serve.”
