Townsquare’s WRKR/Kalamazoo Raises $20k for Tornado Relief

March 13, 2026

WRKR's Mark Frankhouse delivers a fundraising update on Facebook this past Tuesday.

Following last weekend's destructive tornados in Southwest Michigan, Townsquare Media's WRKR-FM (Portage-Kalamazoo) and its morning personality Mark Frankhouse raised over $20,000 (so far) this week in funds designated for tornado relief efforts.

The fundraising started on Monday morning (3/9) with Frankhouse vowing to stay on the air until at least $10,000 in donations were received.  "Starting Monday at 6 AM, I will be taking over the airwaves and will not leave until we raise $10,000. All funds raised will go directly to St. Joseph and Branch County for the relief funds. We have a trusted link from the counties, so there’s no need to worry about the recipients’ credibility," said Frankhouse. "These are our listeners and the people who support us who have been affected, so we need to give back to them. That's what radio is all about."

By 4 p.m. on Monday, over $15,000 was raised and the goal increased to $20,000 with the hope of providing at least $10,000 to each of the two most-affected counties from the storm.  By Thursday morning (3/12), the station announced that the new goal of $20,000 was achieved.

WRKR plans to keep the fundraising going through the weekend for anyone else who would like to contribute.
