Kevin Sanderson
This past Monday, (8/17). Former Battle Creek/Ann Arbor/Detroit air personality Kevin Sanderson passed away at age 70, following a brief illness. He began his career at Keener 14 (WKFR-AM) in Battle Creek, and later worked for radio stations in Jackson, Ann Arbor and Detroit, Michigan. These included Q95 (WKQI-FM) and Smooth Jazz V98.7 (WVMV-FM). He was a traffic reporter on WJBK-TV and various Detroit stations, as well as iHeart Radio. He suffered a stroke about six years ago, but he kept on working.
Kevin Mark Patrick Sanderson, born July 28, 1956, in Battle Creek was one of five sons to Glenn Dale and Marguerite Mary (Reel) Sanderson. Kevin was baptized, received the sacraments and confirmed at St. Philip Catholic Church in Battle Creek. He was a 1974 graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central High School and attended Argubright Business College.
Kevin had many talents and interests. His hobbies included photography, creating animated films, and building web sites. He was a student of radio history and a fan of many types of music, but especially of ABBA. Kevin had a keen interest in genealogy and was a valued member of the Sanderson Genealogy group on Facebook. He was kind and loyal and always went out of his way to help friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Marguerite; four brothers, Glenn D., Edward R., Eric M., and Blair L. Sanderson. Surviving are his sister-in-law, Kathryn (wife of Blair) Sanderson of Chicago; several cousins in the Battle Creek area, and many friends and colleagues.
Rev. James Richardson will lead graveside committal prayers 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2435 Territorial Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49015.
The 11:30 a.m. Sunday, October 4, 2026, Mass will be offered for Kevin Sanderson at St. Philip Catholic Church, 92 Capital Avenue NE, in Battle Creek.
