The Michigan Association of Broadcasters wants our stations to feel protected both physically and online. Last year, the MAB and Michigan State Police began offering Site Safety Assessments to evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations. Now, the MAB and MSP are extending our support to members by offering free cyber security assessments.

Use of EAS Tones in Promo Results in 504k Fine

The lesson:  do not use EAS tones outside of actual EAS alerts.  On January 23, the FCC proposed a $504,000 fine against FOX Corporation and its television subsidiaries for using the alerting tones of the Emergency Broadcast System in a promotional announcement aired on the company’s television network on November 28, 2021.

PitchFest ’23 Coming February 9

PitchFest ‘23 gives broadcasters and agency representatives the opportunity to network and make connections. We had success last year and heard everyone’s feedback. The MAB will hold two events this year, one on February 9, 2023 and the second in late July. The MAB will provide a half day of virtual interactions between MAB member stations and ad agencies.
