Michigan Public Stateside Host April Baer to Receive National Gracie Award

Michigan Public (Ann Arbor) has been notified that April Baer, host of the station’s daily Stateside show, has been selected to receive a National Gracie Award as best local Public Media host (Radio – Non-Commercial Local). Established in 1975, the Gracie Awards are celebrating their 50th year of honoring excellence of women in media and are presented by The Alliance of Women in Media.

Feed the Future with iHeartMedia West Michigan Raises Over $42K

The inaugural “Feed the Future” fundraiser to support Kids’ Food Basket raised $42,208 on 104.5 WSNX in Grand Rapids and Muskegon radio stations 107 MUS “The Moose” and Rock 101.7. The event raised money for the food equity community organization that provides Sack Suppers to West Michigan kids so they can have access to good, nutritious food. The program also provides kids will weekend meals to ensure they have something to eat on the weekends.

WXYZ-TV Hires Metro Detroit Native Jolie Sherman as New Reporter

Bloomfield Hills native Jolie Sherman has returned to her hometown of Detroit to join Scripps Media’s WXYZ-TV as a reporter and multimedia journalist. Sherman previously worked at NBC affiliate WVIT-TV in Hartford, Connecticut.  Sherman is a 2020 graduate of Illinois State University with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in French.

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s 86th annual conference was held March 7-8 in New York City where the winners of its IBS 2024-25 Media Awards were honored.  High School and College student stations throughout Michigan were recipients.
