WGHN 2024 Coat Drive Collects Over 1,700 Coats!

WGHN-FM (Grand Haven) has announced the results of its 2024 Coat Drive, done in partnership with Plantenga’s Cleaners.  This year’s effort successfully collected and cleaned over 1,700 coats for those in need.  Thanks to the incredible generosity of local residents, the drive also gathered over 200 pairs of gloves, donated by the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of Realtors, and more than 100 hats.

WITL Christmas Party Raises 7k+ for Ele’s Place

Townsquare Media’s WITL-FM (Lansing) held its annual listener Christmas party this past Tuesday, raising more than $7000 for Ele’s Place.  Ele’s Place is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to creating awareness of and support for grieving children, teens and their families.

Hillsdale College Students Named Finalists for National Broadcasting Awards

Hillsdale College has announced that it has finalists in eight categories for the annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems Awards. First-place winners will be announced on March 8 in New York City. “I’m very proud of our WRFH students for their effort,” said Scot Bertram, general manager of WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
