Downtown Detroit Partnership and WDIV-TV Announce Exclusive Broadcast Partnership

The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) and WDIV-TV (Detroit) announced a new broadcast rights partnership for the 22nd annual Detroit Tree Lighting presented by DTE Energy Foundation and produced by the Downtown Detroit Partnership taking place Friday, November 21, 2025, in the award-winning Campus Martius Park in Downtown Detroit.

WLEN Opens Annual Hometown Hope Applications

Lenawee Broadcasting’s WLEN-FM (Adrian) has opened the applications for its Hometown Hope Marketing Grant for 2026. Twelve groups will be picked to get a full month of radio ads, social media posts, and interviews on WLEN to help share their mission.

Detroit TV & Radio Legend Bob Hynes Dies at 93

October 24, 2025

Longtime Detroit TV and radio personality Bob Hynes died last Friday (10/17) in California, following a brief illness, according to a family spokesperson. The Saginaw native hosted his own morning show on WXYZ-TV for five years beginning in 1966.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
