WXYZ-TV Hires Metro Detroit Native Jolie Sherman as New Reporter

March 21, 2025

Bloomfield Hills native Jolie Sherman has returned to her hometown of Detroit to join Scripps Media’s WXYZ-TV as a reporter and multimedia journalist. Sherman previously worked at NBC affiliate WVIT-TV in Hartford, Connecticut.  Sherman is a 2020 graduate of Illinois State University with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in French.

WTVB News Director Jim Measel Announces Retirement

Midwest Communications WTVB-AM (Coldwater) News Director Jim Measel has announced his retirement. In a post on the station’s website, he writes, “It’s not very often a radio station News Director gets to write a story about themselves but this is a special occasion.”

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
