Five Broadcasters Nominated for Michigan Sports Hall of Fame
The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame has announced that five broadcasters have been put on the 2026 ballot for voting by the general public. The Hall of Fame was established in 1954 to honor the athletes, coaches, contributors, and personalities who have made a great impact on the State of Michigan’s sports history and success.

He owned and operated eight radio stations over the course of his 40-years radio career. His interest in broadcasting began with his favorite college summer job at WSPD radio in Toledo. He also did engineering for the U of M student radio and TV stations. In 1977, Rick formed Stone Broadcasting Co. and purchased his first radio station, WOXY in Oxford, Ohio.

On May 21, Swick Broadcasting’s WBET-FM (Sturgis) held its 17th Annual Radiothon for the St. Joseph County United Way network of agencies. The event, which aired from 6 a.m. to Midnight, raised $198,000, exceeding last year’s record of $183,000.
