NAB Applauds Overwhelming Bipartisan House Passage of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act

This past Tuesday (9/15), the House overwhelmingly passed the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, which would require the transportation secretary to issue a rule require the devices as standard equipment in new vehicles sold in the U.S.  Similar bipartisan legislation has been considered by Congress before, but stalled out.

Abbi Hess Named GM of WJQK-FM/WPNW-AM

The appointment follows the passing of Lanser Broadcasting founder Les Lanser on July 30, 2026. Les worked at the stations for 58 years and owned them for 43, pioneering the move to Contemporary Christian music in January 1987—a decision that reshaped Christian radio in West Michigan and established a format the market has embraced for nearly four decades.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
