Michigan Radio Partners with Detroit Documenters to Enhance Detroit Coverage

As part of this new partnership, Michigan Radio will produce stories based on Documenters reporting or share their reporting across the station’s digital and social media platforms. Michigan Radio will also provide an editor to help edit the work that Documenters are producing, and support in the recruitment of new Documenters in Detroit.

WILX-TV Relaunches “Studio 10”

January 13, 2023

Gray Television’s WILX-TV (Lansing) has announced the relaunch of its lifestyle program, Studio 10.  The show features local food, health, parenting and financial tips, entertainment, local stories and more.

WILX initially launched Studio 10 in the fall of 2020, took a brief hiatus in the summer of 2022 and now returns on January 16.

Scott Vertical to Mornings at WQKL

Cumulus Media’s WQKL-FM (Ann Arbor) announced January 3 that Scott Vertical has joined the station as morning host.  Vertical steps into the role following the retirement of longtime morning host and 40-year Southeast Michigan radio personality Martin Bandyke.

MAB members may utilize Enstar Energy to provide energy audits.  MAB members who have used EnStar’s services have averaged refunds of $6,500 plus an annual savings of approximately $2,000.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
