Michigan NATAS Inducts Six into 2022 Silver Circle

This past Sunday (10/16), the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Michigan Chapter, inducted six honorees into the  distinguished Silver Circle.  One of the highest honors given by NATAS Michigan, the Silver Circle recognizes television professionals who have performed distinguished service within the television industry for 25 years or more, a significant part of which was done within the chapter’s region of Michigan.

WILX Partners with Sleep in Heavenly Peace for Make an Impact Campaign

Gray Television’s WILX-TV (Lansing) Made an Impact partnering with in Heavenly Peace on September 10 by helping to build sixty two beds at the Lowes on South Cedar in Lansing. The effort by WILX continued this week (10/17), working with Sylvan Learning Centers to collected donations both at its studio and at two area Sylvan locations.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.

Broadcasting has a silent, but threatening issue occurring across the industry.  It is creating a deepening canyon within staff throughout this wonderful business.  We are blessed with an incredible number of veterans, but they are struggling to grow new employees into productive, long term broadcasters.  This divide is a problem and it is important that leadership begins to take action.
