WQHH Hands Out 1200 Backpacks to Lansing Students

On August 18, MacDonald Broadcasting’s WQHH-FM (Lansing) held their 12th Annual Backpack Giveaway to help students and families prepare for the start of the new school year.  Assisted by station sponsors as well as Communities in Schools of Michigan, the station handed out the backpacks drive-through style over a 2-hour period.

WOOD-TV To Host Debate for 3rd Congressional District Race

September 2, 2022

Nexstar Media’s WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) has announced that the station will host a debate among candidates for Michigan’s newly redrawn 3rd Congressional District on Tuesday, September 13.  The debate, bringing together Republican John Gibbs and Democrat Hillary Scholten will be anchored by WOOD-TV political anchor Rick Albin.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.

Broadcasting has a silent, but threatening issue occurring across the industry.  It is creating a deepening canyon within staff throughout this wonderful business.  We are blessed with an incredible number of veterans, but they are struggling to grow new employees into productive, long term broadcasters.  This divide is a problem and it is important that leadership begins to take action.
