WDIV Documentary to Trace Station’s Fall…and Rise

On Friday, November 4 at 9:00 p.m., Graham Media’s WDIV-TV (Detroit) will debut the documentary “Going 4 It: The Inside Story of the Rise of WDIV.” which will air Friday, November 4th at 9 p.m.
The station was known as WWJ-TV from its 1947 sign-on (under the ownership of the parent company of the Detroit News) until it was sold on 1978 to the Post-Newsweek Corporation.

Society of Professional Journalists Release Safety Guidelines

The Society of Professional Journalists (SPL) has just released a list of suggested safety guidelines, aimed at helping television news managers create safe working conditions for solo television reporters, also known as MMJs. Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
