Alpha Media Flips WGER to Rock

September 23, 2022

On September 20, Alpha Media flipped its WGER-FM (Saginaw) from an adult-CHR format to rock, rebranding as “106.3 The Core.”  The station is focused on rock/alternative music from the ’90s & ’00s. The playlist will include artists like Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam & Soundgarden, Blink 182, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Sublime.

More on FCC Regulatory Fees Due on September 28 – Public Notices on Payment Procedures, Deadlines, Amounts and Waivers

Detroit Public Television Salutes Dick Purtan

On September 15, Detroit Public Television’s WTVS-TV debuted a one-hour documentary, “Detroit Remember When | A Tribute To Long-Time Detroit Personality And Philanthropist Dick Purtan.” This special documentary highlights Purtan’s life on and off the air, told through audio and video clips, archival film and interviews with Purtan, his family, friends and colleagues.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
