WILX-TV Publishes Cookbook by Longtime Anchor David Andrews

Gray Media’s WILX-TV (Lansing) has announced the release of Baking News: Recipes & Stories from David Andrews, a 152-page collectible cookbook that brings the longtime anchor’s warmth and storytelling from the newsroom to the kitchen. The book features a delicious mix of recipes, personal stories, and favorite dishes from David, as well as contributions from familiar faces across WILX News 10.

Civic Media Officially Moves Into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

November 21, 2025

During the Government shutdown, Michigan Civic Media Alliance closed on its its deal to buy WUPY-FM (Ontonagon), WMPL-AM/WKMJ-FM (Hancock) and WJMS-AM/WIMI-FM (Ironwood) from Jerry Hackman’s J&J Broadcasting. The deal also included the Hancock-licensed translator W297CD that simulcasts WMPL as well as the Ironwood-licensed translator W221EH that simulcasts WJMS.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
