Three Former Michigan TV Anchors to be Inducted into Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame

August 22, 2025

This week, Michigan Women Forward announced the 2025 class of the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame.  Among the 7 inductees, there are three former Michigan television news anchors included. Sheri Jones, formerly of WLNS-TV (Lansing), Diana Lewis, formerly of WXYZ-TV (Detroit); and Doris Briscoe, also formerly of WXYZ-TV, will be honored at a ceremonies on October 22.

Nexstar Enters Into Definite Agreement to Buy TEGNA

August 22, 2025

This past Tuesday (8/19), Nexstar Media Group, Inc. and TEGNA Inc. issued a press released announcing that they entered into a definitive agreement, subject to regulatory approvals, The sole TEGNA property in Michigan is WZZM-TV (Grand Rapids). The sole TEGNA property in Michigan is WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids, where Nexstar already owns owns WOOD-TV, WOTV-TV and WXSP-CD.

Site Safety Assessments

In an effort to help provide protection to broadcasters in Michigan, the MAB and Michigan State Police Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Desk are partnering to help broadcast stations ensure safety for their staff and facilities by offering Station Site Safety Assessments that will evaluate and make practical recommendations of security operations at broadcast stations.

Alternative Broadcast Inspections

The Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to avoid surprise inspections. Stations that pass the inspection receive a three-year Certification of Compliance.
